Physical Vitality
- While I don’t particularly care for the marketing angle, I have yet to find a better introduction into bodyweight exercising than Convict Conditioning. The book focuses on 6 basic exercises; Pushups, Squats, Pull-ups, Leg Raises, The Bridge, and Handstand Pushups. The last two, you don’t start until after you have a solid foundation of the first four. Each exercise starts with the most basic easy version that almost anybody can get started with, all the way up to a version that anybody would be proud to do.
- My favorite go-to book for Stretching is by Bob Anderson. It’s an oldie but goodie that never gets old.
Mental Clarity
- As a Man Thinketh
- A Man’s Search for Meaning
Emotional Receptivity
- Emotional Intelligence
- Social Intelligence
Spiritual Community
- The Art of Happiness
- Non-Violent Communication
Time/Money/Space Quality (of Life)
- Think and Grow Rich
- Make More, Work Less
Martial Arts
- To dive into the mind of a master martial artist, I always suggest starting with The Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi. Go Rin No Sho (as it’s known in its original Japanese) is one of the most-read books on strategy, tactics, and mindset for achieving success in battle. Whether the battlefield is on the street, in the boardroom, or over your own fears.
Business
-
The first place to start, The Personal MBA, is by far, my favorite book. I return to it and study it each week, Everything from business basics to more advanced strategies and tactics is here. Not to mention also how to learn to work with yourself and others, an often overlooked but very important skill set. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned veteran you owe it to yourself to add this book to your library. Not only will it save you a ton of headaches, but the knowledge gained will also rival that of those who “invested” hundreds of thousands of dollars of individuals who have a slip of paper on their wall titled, Master of Business Administration, without the $150,000 price tag.
